Biography
Kevin ‘GK’ Frederick is a cinematographer deeply attuned to the soul of an image—the intangible essence that resonates beyond what is visible. Through his work, he seeks to explore and deepen his understanding of the human experience, using cinema as his medium of expression.
Born in New York and raised in Antigua & Barbuda, GK’s early years living in the Caribbean laid the foundation for his visual language. He was first drawn to image-making through graphic design and photography, which gradually evolved into a passion for cinematography.
He is currently at a crossroads, seeking to refresh his process by focusing more on alchemising emotional and intuitive qualities in an image. Above all, GK hopes to continue to use cinematography as a way to expand his world view and bring his Caribbean roots to the big screen.
“I saw that the camera could be a weapon against poverty, against racism, against all sorts of social wrongs. I knew at that point I had to have a camera.”
